Our present sermon series at church is entitled: DECIDE NOW. The focus is to decide each and every day to follow God’s lead in one’s life. It coincides so well with the same message God has been working to teach me for the past many months. I am working to stay focused on this very day and to not jump ahead. As the Serenity Prayer says: One day at a time, one moment at a time.
This morning’s bible reading had a short passage I had underlined quite some time back. It says: “If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all of his decrees, i will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you.” Exodus 15:26 This was the message God gave Moses to pass onto the children of Israel as they parted from Egypt and had crossed the Red Sea.
I’ve written before that I have on the top of my prayer list: Eyes on Christ, Listen to His Voice, Obey His commands. As I read this verse this morning I was reminded once again how God’s messages, promises, never change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Staying focused on today where I can be present with Him is so important. Trusting all of my tomorrows to Him and staying in “today” is my goal for today. God is THE GREAT I AM!
